Spread Your Wings and Soar

 

 

As a Pilates student many years ago, I had a favorite instructor. I enjoyed learning from her and loved her personality, so I only attended her classes. Then one day, she encouraged me to “spread my wings” and attend other instructors’ classes. I decided to give it a shot, and I was amazed! One instructor gave me a new cue that made me love an exercise that initially I didn’t care for. Another instructor’s way of setting up for an exercise led to better execution on my part. I began to soar in my Pilates practice.

As certified Pilates instructors, we take great pride in our training and knowledge. We’re all taught the same basic goal to strive for in every group class or private session we teach: create a workout for our students that teaches form, control, precision, breath, balance and proper execution. However, each individual instructor has a different style when teaching these things. By expanding your horizon and taking classes from different instructors, you will expand your base knowledge and work to a higher level in your Pilates journey. Every ABC teacher is different, every ABC teacher is GOOD, and every ABC teacher can teach you something new.

So, my challenge to you is to spread your Pilates wings and fly! This month, try a class/instructor you’ve never taken before and see how high you soar!
